"Take Me for What I am, Who I was Meant to be" MTBoSBlaugust-20 Things About Me (Day 3)

  1.  This will be my 8th year of teaching science at the same school at which I started.  I have taught high school there and have been at the junior high level now for six years.  This will be the my first year teaching science without a lab, and I should add that my current room is part of the old library.  Things are never boring here! :)
  2.  I currently have five cats.  Yikes!  I think the ideal number is three, but it's really hard to say   no to strays.  Their names are Elektra, Ferguson, Benson, Crispin, and Simpson.
  3.   I like socks, especially toe socks, stripey socks, and other interesting ones. No, it doesn't feel weird to have my toes separated. They're like gloves for feet.
  4. I am very much a realist. There is water in the glass and to be precise, there are 118.294118 mL in that glass.
  5. I love all four seasons. I'm partial to the early spring and early fall. It's just something about the air, the colors, the temperature. I don't know, maybe it's because they are the moderate seasons.
  6. Mustard is quite possibly my top condiment. I have five different kinds in my fridge right now. I put mustard on my french fries. I make pasta sauces out of it. Love it.
  7.   I miss summers at Clear Lake with my family. I loved Hampton Cabin in all its graffitied glory.  There were eight grandchildren, one grandma, three aunts, and various friends that stayed at the lake.
  8. I was on the golf team in high school. I'm pretty sure I got worse each year. I probably should have stayed out for track or gone out for tennis.
  9. I like to make jewelry.  I don't make as much as I would like, but I've pinned quite a few things and have plans to try many of the designs.
  10. I do not like coffee or the smell of it, but I love tea. Right now, I've have stocked up on the Bigelow Girl Scout flavors.  Lovely!
  11. I really, really like fruits and vegetables. I make lots of vegetarian recipes and even a a few vegetarian cookbooks, but for all of those who are concerned, I am not a a vegetarian. However, since marrying my husband, I have had to include more meat in meals, as he is not really a fan of "Meatless Mondays."
  12. My husband and I have gone to six breweries together and a couple of beer, wine, and cheese fests.  I never really was a great beer drinker, and I still am really not, but I have grown to enjoy them a bit more.  Plus, it's science!
  13. I came from a small family.  I am an only child and my died died from cancer when I was two.
  14. The previous fact was a major motivating factor for me to get my bachelor's degree without any debt.  I was able to do so, and only took on debt when I continued on to get my teaching license.
  15. I love to read!  I used to read a lot more than I do now, but I have been trying to read more.  So far this year, I have read 19 books.
  16.  I am a major fan of music.  I have way too many cds, and to describe my taste of music, I like to say that I like what I like, and don't like what I don't like. ;)  We just saw American Hi-Fi, The Toadies, Fuel, and Everclear last weekend, and we will be seeing Shinedown this weekend.
  17. Exercise is becoming a major part of my life, as I want to stay fit, it is also a great stress reliever, mood stabilizer, and really does relax me.  I did pretty well this past school year, in riding at least a 1/2 hour each day on my exercise bike.  I've amped things up this summer by focusing on different target areas as well as continuing to bike.
  18. I am an introvert.  I do enjoy the company of other people, but I definitely enjoy my solitude. :)
  19.   Over the past year or so, my husband and I have taken up geocaching when we are going somewhere and have some extra time.  I'm a bit bummed we didn't find the cache on the Packer's Heritage Trail.  I don't know when we'll be back to try that one again.
  20. I have a degree in biology and psychology, and my endorsements are in biology, chemistry, general science, and physical science.  I hope to add Earth science this fall, and then I will focus on my least favorite area:  physics.  :)
